Backlit Stone Wall – Damac Tower Project, London
Spanlite designed and built a bespoke backlit stone wall for Damac Tower, London, transforming the reception space with a dramatic illuminated feature. The installation brings together natural stone, precision detailing, and our integrated Stratum Integra lightbox system, creating a focal point that defines the interior’s character.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Working closely with the interior design team, Spanlite developed a fully integrated illuminated wall solution tailored precisely to the project’s architectural needs. Every element — from the lighting technology to the concealed mounting structure — was carefully designed to work together. As a result, the final installation is both visually striking and technically refined.
The Stratum Integra lightbox system houses LED backlighting and stone fascia within a single, slimline unit. This all-in-one design eliminates the need for complex on-site assembly, significantly reducing installation time. Furthermore, the seamless construction ensures an elegant, low-profile finish. The finished wall enhances the space by creating depth and sophistication while maintaining a clean, contemporary look.
TECHNICAL DETAIL
At the core of the feature is Spanlite’s LED Light Sheet technology — a slim, high-output panel that provides consistent, even illumination across large surfaces. Each panel was custom-sized to match the project’s dimensions, with cable exits, fixings, and detailing integrated around the surrounding architecture.
Because the system is fully integrated, standard contractors can complete the installation without requiring specialist trades. Once installed, the feature offers a long-lasting, low-maintenance lighting solution with minimal energy consumption and exceptional performance.
While this project incorporated client-supplied stone, Spanlite also offers its own range of innovative surface options. For example, Stratum Stone combines natural stone with glass for a durable, architectural finish. Alternatively, Stratum Featherstone provides a lightweight solution that reduces weight without compromising on elegance. Both materials deliver high-end aesthetics with simplified handling and installation.
