Backlit Faux Onyx Wall Manchester at Plot 9A

Spanlite designed and installed a backlit faux onyx wall Manchester for Plot 9A.
We created the full support system and illuminated finish. As a result, the reception gained a striking feature for the new Government hub.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Spanlite was appointed by BAM Construction to design, engineer and install a bespoke backlit faux onyx wall for the reception of Plot 9A. We worked with Jon Matthews Architects during the design stage to ensure the system combined visual impact with technical precision.

Our team built the full structural framework, integrated the lighting, and installed the supporting infrastructure for power and access. In addition, each panel was custom-made to suit the wall’s geometry. Moreover, they were aligned precisely around staircases, doorways and service openings.

Spanlite translated a complex concept into a workable solution and delivered a precisely detailed illuminated wall on time and to specification. As a result, the finished installation enhances the reception space and also complements the clean, contemporary character of the wider development.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Spanlite built the feature wall using our Stratum Integra lightbox system, which secures each panel while allowing access behind. Additionally, the visible surface uses Stratum Image Glass, digitally printed with a continuous onyx design.

We achieved backlighting with our LED Light Sheet, set to 4000K for consistent architectural white. After installation, we added a powder-coated aluminium trim to complete the decorative surround.

Our team installed the entire package, including framework, driver boxes, loom cables, panel fixing, and trims. Therefore, the system combined efficient installation with precise detailing around doors, staircases, and apertures.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
