Stratum Featherstone redefines the use of natural stone in interior and architectural applications, offering a lightweight solution that maintains the authentic look and feel of solid stone.

At just 25% of the weight of traditional stone laminated to glass, and 60% lighter than standard solid onyx or marble, Featherstone is ideal for installations in weight sensitive spaces. Ideal for aviation, marine, lift and ceiling installations  where traditional stone might be impractical due to structural limitations.

 

Created by bonding a real stone surface to a Fibercomb backing, Featherstone is engineered for strength, stability, and durability without compromising translucency or aesthetic quality. This means that multiple panels can be cut from a single piece of 20-30mm stone, enabling seamless book-matching and continuous patterning in designs.

These panels maintain the natural veining and texture of the original stone, and their thin profile ensures translucency without shadowing, making them perfect for backlighting applications where ambient glow enhances the material’s beauty.

 

Featherstone’s versatility and resilience make it suitable for a range of installations, from large-format walls and ceiling features to bar facings and desk surfaces. For ceiling installations, Featherstone’s lightweight nature allows for expansive stone panels without overwhelming structural supports.

Combined with Spanlite’s bespoke LED backlighting systems, Featherstone can be backlit evenly, highlighting every natural detail with customised lighting options.
