Lift Ceiling Lighting

Spanlite ceiling lights offer consistent, even illumination that is bright enough to act as the sole source of light within the lift car, reducing the need for multiple visible fittings and keeping the overhead area clean and uncluttered.

Ceiling lighting can be simple and practical by design, or developed to offer a more decorative surface, adding depth and interest to the overhead area.

All panels are made to measure, with a number of systems developed specifically for lift ceiling applications. Where a project requires something different, Spanlite develops a solution around the client’s specification, existing carcass, installation requirements and preferred surface finish.

Emergency lighting and integrated hatch access can be incorporated within the panel design. Panels can also be detailed around trims, access frames and ceiling layouts, with a range of surfaces available including fire-rated options.

Lift Walls

Illuminated lift wall panels can be used to add depth, contrast and visual identity without relying on the ceiling alone. The lighting is often decorative, but can also contribute to the ambient light level where the design and specification allow.

Spanlite creates these features in a range of materials including backlit glass, printed image glass, lightweight stone surfaces and fire-retardant polycarbonate. Artwork can be selected from our image library or supplied by the client, allowing pattern, colour, branding or texture to be carried into the lift car.

Each panel is developed around the available depth, required lighting level, surface finish and overall interior scheme, with details designed to work around lift controls, handrails, trims and other functional features.

Lift Exterior and Shaft Lighting

Lift exterior lighting extends the visual impact beyond the lift car interior, creating movement, visibility and architectural interest within the wider space. Illuminated features can be mounted to the outside of the lift car so the light moves with it as it rises and falls, helping the lift stand out and supporting wayfinding through light and movement.

Spanlite also develops static lift shaft lighting for projects where the illuminated feature remains fixed within the shaft or surrounding structure. This can add depth, glow or visual interest where the lift shaft is visible from the lobby, atrium or circulation space.

Each system is developed around the lift structure, sight lines, access requirements and coordination with the lift installer, so the lighting works with the lift as well as the wider architectural scheme.

Lift Lobby Lighting

Lift lobby lighting brings design interest to an area that is often treated as purely functional. Introducing illuminated ceilings, wall panels, lift-adjacent features gives the lift area a more integrated, finished and inviting presence.

Where the lift area, lobby and wider reception spaces are considered together, illuminated features can help carry a consistent visual language through the building. Matching or complementary lighting effects, materials and panel details make the route towards the lift feel more considered and connected.

Lobby lighting can also support branding, artwork or wayfinding where required. Each system is developed around the scale of the space, required lighting level, surface finish, access requirements and installation method. Practical considerations such as maintenance, cleaning, fire performance, impact resistance and available build depth are built into the design, while keeping the final effect aligned with the wider interior scheme.

Coordination, Supply & Installation

Spanlite works with architects and interior designers at any stage of a lift project, although early involvement allows more scope to shape the lighting, panel build-up and installation approach during the design phase.

Our team provides design development, technical detailing, drawings, samples and mock-ups where required. Driver locations, cable routes, access for maintenance, replacement parts and future servicing are considered as part of the system design, not treated as afterthoughts.

Spanlite offers a full installation service through our own team, or supplies bespoke illuminated systems for installation by others. This gives the project team flexibility while still benefiting from Spanlite’s experience in the crossover between decorative lighting, illuminated surfaces and lift installation.
